Application and Fees

Candidates who would like to be considered for participation must meet the following criteria:

  • At least 3 years experience in the field of peacebuilding.
  • Completion of High School
  • Competency in French (or English)
  • Receipt of all application forms, deposit and tuition

The GLPI Coordination will select participants after receiving the following application materials:

  • Letter from organization requesting training
  • CV or brief biography explaining past experience in peacebuilding activities
  • Completed Application Form

Due to a limited number of places available in the institute, candidates will be accepted on a rolling basis with priority given to early applicants.

All documents should be sent electronically to the GLPI Coordinator at glpeacebuildinginstitute@gmail.com before August 15 in order for candidates to be considered for participation.

If selected, candidates must provide a $100 non-refundable deposit to GLPI before September 15.

Tuition and Fees:

Full tuition, room and board for the Institute is $1800.  This includes lodging, food, course excursions and all costs related to purchase of supplies for participation. Candidates are expected to seek out an organization to sponsor them as a participant at the Institute.

While we encourage participants to commit to participate for the entire month, it is possible to select certain modules to attend. To participate on a weekly basis, the cost is $500 per week, which includes tuition, room and board.

For participants who have lodging in Gitega, the institute cost without room and board is $1200 for the entire workshop (includes lunch and breaks) or $300 per week (including lunch and breaks).

Single day participants are also welcome and may inquire about costs directly to the GLPI coordinator.

Payment for full tuition ($1700) must be received by September 30 in order to participate.  This is preceded by a $100 non-refundable deposit for application fees paid by September 15.  All fees must be transferred directly to the GLPI account.
